Black stork     Must-toonekurg     Ciconia nigra

Rainy days, and the downy-feathered storklets must be covered against the rain. The oldest storklet was hatched on May 11th, the next on May 13th, in early morning – thus almost one week old.

For dinner the female serves half-digested small fish, caught in the morning in the nearby creek. They are about 5-7 cm, and in this family no food is left over or lying about in the nest.

The rain has soaked the moss in the nest and the nest bottom needs draining with the beak to make life feel drier and more comfortable for the small ones as well as the adults. Towards the end of the video we see the female busy with other household chores – there is enough to do for a housewife.
