The bittern female brought a nicely sized rudd to the nest. Until now the chicks have been fed small fish, now is the time to teach them to break up the food.

 

During Sunday the female was absent from the nest to get food 13 times, altogether a period of 9 hours and 16 minutes (Hagnat, LK forum).
