Wing exercises instead of morning gymnastics…

 

 

More precisely the chicks in Mari and Mihkel’s nest are one month old on average, but the chicks hatched on May 3rd, 4th and 7th respectively. The difference in size is easy to see.

 

About twenty more days and the chicks will start to fledge. Interesting times are coming.

 

Quick visit at nest by the male

 

The bigger chick does not always get the prey brought by the adults. It is interesting to observe that the mouse is often dropped in front of a certain chick, and even the smallest one manages to defend its food quite audibly from the bigger ones.

 

A reminder: Katrin and Kalju’s chicks are about a week younger; useful as measure of how much a week’s growth is.
