The male bird with a wing span of more than two meters can weigh up to 5 kilos (as comparison to the osprey male).

 

The male has become the feeder of the eaglet, and he fetches 1-2 catches of fish to the nest daily(either pike which we often saw during the springtime spawning period, tench, carp …) on rare occasions some waterfowl (diving ducks, dabbling ducks, waders, gulls…) Relative to its own body weight a flying white-tailed eagle can carry along a prey that is almost twice its own body weight: the powerful large wings allow this. In the webcam we have seen either fish or waterfowl being brought to the nest.
