Mahtra rambles

In Estonia weather is a really strong force – it directs our doings, for better and for worse. Sometimes it makes active, sometimes passive. Some of us are more sensitive, others adapt quickly – so it was with the people in these pictures. There were nearly 150 people on the icy paths of the Mahtra marshlands on the weekend, people came from Tallinn and from Tartu, some even from Virumaa. For most of them this was their first experience of winter walking in a marshland and there were surely some surprises. Hopefully they will not keep the adventure to themselves, and the most important message will spread –bogs and marshlands are good for rambling in all seasons, not only going for cranberries in the autumn. The ice will hopefully remain, and new ramblers can contact the Mahtra Rahvakool, to register for coming rambles.
