There were two possibilities but the worst case could be dismissed in the morning of December 7^th  – the storm had not thrown our seal camera installation all over the place nor drenched it. The sun woke the camera up to work. Transmission was patchy of course but we got a view of what was happening in the Baltic.

 

It seems that in western Saaremaa the wind had already turned to the north-west; in gusts it reached around twenty metres per second. The water level was 60 centimetres above the Kronstadt zero and had fallen about half a metre during the previous 12 hours. Air and water temperatures were almost 8 degrees. The wave height could not be estimated by sight.
