On the seal beach on Thursday we saw at least a hundred individuals with frosty coats, peacefully basking. At the water’s edge it is of course less cold, about -12 degrees. On the western shore of Saaremaa, towards the Baltic, the water temperature approaches zero. Interesting whether the seals will remain on the ice during this year’s birthing period?

 

Where there are furs there are feathers too. The raven pair of course who keep together the year round, the hooded crow gang and young white-tailed eagles. The cautious seals do not bother much about the last-named but they are still on guard.

 

A pleasant and peaceful sight.
