Gray seal Hallhüljes Halichoerus grypus
The first gray seal pup has been born – but it is not known if live or still-born. In camera view we can see crows and eagles busy around the remains.
Seal pups have been seen previously too in mid-January, from early February they will be more and more numerous in the rookery.
In the camera image we see how even a little more light would help. The view shows that the shore front is filled with ridged ice, so to be able to bring the batteries for charging is rather uncertain.
