Bird Feeder Visitor - Redpoll

Redpoll.

  Redpoll Carduelis flammea

Beautiful passerine birds, slightly bigger than siskins. The carmine-red forehead, and the reddish breast of male birds catch the eye; back and flanks are streaked lengthwise. Like bullfinches they have only seldom visited the feeder. They prefer eating on the ground: jackdaws and doves spill much seeds, and so these aren’t “wasted”.
