Arne’s mystery photo needs some explanation: this raven is not dead or hurt in any way, rather the other way about! It is in top form. The ravens are in their early-spring display mood, and their imagination seems limitless. They are like children, love to play tags, pursue each other. Arne Ader tells for instance how one raven shoots away from the others, quickly hides in the branches of a tree, partner does not notice this, hurries past the tree and is fooled. The ravens also like playing in the snow, they can even slide on it, not to speak of just throwing themselves on the snow.

Now, in March, the ravens’ display is getting past its peak, and the dancing and pursuing becomes focused on the nest territory.
