Black grouse display.
The black grouse display or lek is in full swing. The clearings where the grouse cocks, the blackcocks, with their fine brows strut around hold nature people spellbound for hours on end. Everyone can't see the show, with its cooings and bows, and we really shouldn’t try to – the black grouse is a protected species. But in very early mornings, at the outskirts of a bog, you may happen to hear the „bubbling“ of the grouse – bird people compare the sound of the grouse display to a porridge pot on the boil. To the listener the sound is mysterious – repelling and inviting at the same time
