Early May morning with the grasshopper warbler

Text, photo and sound: Arne Ader
Translation: Liis from forum

The grasshopper warbler sits in the top of a willow bush and there sings out its secrets: it sings so that its whole body trembles with the beat of the singing. Only its head with the wide-open beak remains still in this trembling excitement.

Does the trembling underline the bird’s song or is it the other way round – the singing makes the whole body tremble?

Or is it neither the one or the other ...? Maybe it is the excitement in a bird’s soul that becomes visible and hearable to us in its singing

.
