This mutation of liverleaf, Hepatica, grows at the edge of Mahtra marsh, at the root of a silver birch. I tried to count how many layers of petals it had heaped on itself, at the fifteenth I lost count. Altogether the plant had 5 flowers and all were similar, many-layered, whereas its neighbours were all “normal”. And I thought that so it is with people too, everything repeats, but yet is unrepeatable
