Metal-gleaming beetles – rose chafer

Rose chafers.

The sound of beetles in flight is easily recognised, and in summer one of our most common ones – the rose chafer (Cetonia aurata) - can often be observed on flowers. With its barbed legs it holds steadily on to the flower, while tasting it – is that really nice? It eats quite a lot of flowers, and so gardens can be damaged, when the beetles are too many.
