Marking summer's beginning: wild rose flowers

Purekkari foreland.

Soon the seashores will be overflowing with flowers as in the photo – our native roses are about to flower. The first purplish buds of the wild rose family have already opened, their flowering and that of the guelder rose signifies the beginning of phenological summer. We find  wild roses  on seashores, on dry soil, and around human settlements.
