Hedgehogs have young hoglets, and other animal babies hide themselves everywhere: in shrubs and forests, and in grass. We should be careful about how we cut our grass areas. A lawn-mowing tractor for instance need not be driven in circles so that the ever smaller uncut area in the middle becomes a trap. Those who live in the grass flee there. The last little patch might be left uncut over night, or the cutting can be done in a back-and-forth pattern instead.
