In rivers and lakes the water level is high this year and the clumps of yellow flag irises are tall as “small men”. A really impressive view, and flowering abundantly too.

A plant of floodplain and swamp forests, and marshes – and of meadows, fens, ditches, ponds. Lakes and rivers have already been mentioned. So, obviously, a humidity-loving plant, and undemanding with regard to soil fertility. It grows in the sun as well as shadow. The flowers are scentless
