The night-time bogie

Text, photo and sound: Arne Ader
Translation: Liis

When the river is wrapped in summer-night mists and the singing urge of the marsh warblers is fading – then the bittern lets it mighty trumpet voice be heard!

It is as if it were blowing into an empty bottle: "uu-uump, uu-uump, uu-uump". Bawls like a bog demon, people said, and they have also called the bittern the night-time bogie
