In meadows and fields there are heart-shaped seed capsules (siliques) on the shepherd’s purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) as well as the pennycress (Thlaspis arvense): triangular hearts on the shepherd’s purse, rounded ones on the pennycress. If they are picked now and dried, they can be used to print pretty patterns on cards at Christmas, or the green hearts can simply be pasted on a card. Actually they can still be picked even in autumn, the shepherd’s purse and the pennycress both flower until October.
