Bat in the night

Daubenton's bat.

The nights are still light and long, and this is a good time to go to a pond or other pool of water to see the food-hunting flights of the Daubenton’s bat (Myotis daubentoni) that start about half an hour after sunset. Hunting for insects above the surface of shallow waters, the bats usually fly in groups, from time to time making two-meter-high arches in the air. And all in total silence!
