The warblers arrive quite late in Estonia, some even only in the beginning of June, and manage to hatch one clutch, which now should be grown up. Some warblers may nest a second time now, if something happens to the first clutch. But in mid-July mostly the warblers already start to prepare for the autumn migration – by fattening up.
Excluding occasional visitors, there are five warbler species in Estonia: the great reed warbler, the sedge warbler and the very similar European reed warbler. These three can be seen clinging to reed stems at water edges. The marsh warbler and the Blyth’s reed warbler are more of shrub inhabitants.
