Grass of Parnassus.

The grass of Parnassus (Parnassia palustris) with its slight honey fragrance occurs all over Estonia, but because it grows in rather humid locations few see it. But when you notice the grass of Parnassus it is worthwhile bringing your nose to it, because the flower has a very pleasant honey scent. Why the name, ädalalill, “new grass flower”? “Ädal” is an Estonian word for the fresh grass that grows in pastures after the hay has been made. The grass of Parnassus flowers when a good farmer should have finished his haymaking.
