A warm summer day in the nest

Pojad üksi

The night-temperature in the nest was three degrees and the early summer days are warming. A bit before eight o'clock Donna relieved Padis from a 14-hour shift on the nest—and served breakfast. It was the first day when the chicks were left repeatedly for long periods on their own. After lunch, Jõgeva County was Estonia's warmest spot with 21 degrees in the shade. Of course it was hot for the chicks in the sun. Great for seeing their white plumage…
It was quite exciting to watch life in the nest so closely, and when flies passed in front of the camera lens it felt at times like a Hitchcock production. And when the chicks repeatedly pretended to be lime spray…well, you'll have to watch the video.
