Red sunset, coloured dewdrops

Red sunsets
Now that October approaches and the days shorten, the sunsets are particularly “red”. There is plenty of humidity in the air, and when the sun sinks on the horizon, light of the longest wavelength is the last to be seen – red light that stays to colour the sky.

Find coloured dewdrops
In mid-morning and with sunny weather there are coloured dewdrops in the grass now: there are not only colourless ones as on the spruce twig in Arne’s photo, but also drops that reflect yellow and pale blue light if you look carefully. Such colours on the drops could be seen in the summer mornings too – at times when the sun shone at a very low angle, but this was so early that most of us were still fast asleep.
