The Estonian Ornithological Society announces a drawing competition in the Tawny Owl Year. Contributions to the competition may illustrate a tawny owl, or other owls in Estonia, or matter connected with their life and doings.
In co-operation with Eesti Rahvaluule Arhiiv (Estonian Folklore Archives) collection of information about folklore to do with tawny owls also starts. We look forward to interesting experiences, stories, incidents, beliefs as told by people, and other matters connected to owls in Estonia.
The most interesting art work and owl stories will be published on the Bird of the Year web page, and also be exhibited on December 14 in the Estonian National Library at the “Bird of the Year”-theme nature night. The collected tales and traditions will be stored at the Estonian Folklore Archives.
Directions for the drawing competition and collection of traditions are on the Tawny Owl homepage www.eoy.ee/kodukakk
Contributions should be at the Estonian Ornithological Society on November 15 at the latest.
Prizes to the most diligent folklore collectors and the best artists!
