Goldcrests: some migrate

 Goldcrest.

Although they are basically non-migratory (resident) birds, some goldcrests move towards Central Europe, while others stay here. In clear weather goldcrests move by night and use the day for feeding. It is interesting too that different birds species can join in a flock and travel together. The goldcrests often go with tits. It is worthwhile going to the Kabli birding station – Kabli has its 40th working year anniversary this year, and the migration of goldcrests has been thoroughly studied there – to see the migration of passerines.
