White flowers in meadows

Frost on yarrow.

The common yarrow, or milfoil, can be seen even in December; now it is everywhere. When you look closer at a meadow many flowers show between the dry and bleached straws of grasses. There is a new generation of white deadnettles filled with nectar in a garden corner, the buds of alison at road verges with other patches of colour: purple field scabiouses and occasional heads of clover, yellow lady’s bedstraw – quite enough for a flower bunch!
