Snow in Eastern Estonia

Snow in Tudu forest.

In Alutaguse, called the Estonian Siberia, winter has already made itself known: the mighty forests there got a quite respectable snow cover on Saturday-Sunday. The photo shows too that autumn isn’t really past yet: in bogs and marshes the birches have plenty of yellow leaves, and the wind has spilled them on the freshly fallen snow. The fresh snow also reminds of how much easier it is in the cold and dark period if the ground is white. Let’s hope that the “black winter” that has been promised for this year will have its snowy periods too.
