Frost on reeds

Frosty reeds.

The early Sunday morning showed beautiful frost even at the shores of North-western Estonia that have otherwise been warmer than usual. It was fine-grained frost, so-called soft rime, that comes at air temperatures of between -2 and -7 when drops of mist freeze. The freezing happens so rapidly that the drops solidify like snow, that is, no crystals are formed and the granules are so tiny that they can’t be seen individually.
Crystalline frost (white frost) has not occurred yet, it needs a lower air temperature
.
