Thick snowfall, with rain and some degrees above zero. The magpie got rather wet.

The sedentary adult magpies, both looking quite like each other, live in pairs the year round as the web camera shows too – ever keeping together. Young birds roam around in wintertime.

Magpies are extraordinarily beautiful birds. At first they seem black-and-white, but the black shimmers in blue, violet and green hues. The tail makes up half of an adult bird’s length, the tail of juveniles is shorter. The winter number – somewhere around a hundred thousand individuals - is larger than that of those nesting here in summer, due to the migrants from north.
