Common winter bird: great spotted woodpecker.

Tallinn Bird Club invites all bird friends to take part in the winter bird count project coordinated by the Estonian Ornithological Society. The purpose of the winter bird survey is to determine the distribution and numbers of winter birds and the changes that have taken place and are taking place.
Because the natural environment of Tallinn changes very rapidly it is particularly important to identify the areas of Tallinn where changes in the winter bird population occur, and their nature. Data from as many observation trails as possible are needed for this.
Please send information about observation trails in Tallinn, their lengths and locations to eet@tallinna-linnuklubi.ee . This will allow us to space the observation trails more evenly in the city and to avoid situations where several observers count winter birds on the same site unknown to each other.
For information about how the winter bird count should be carried out, where to send the results and much more please see the Tallinn Bird Club's website, winter bird count section, http://www.tallinna-linnuklubi.ee/?page_id=872.
All are welcome to participate in EOÜ’s winter bird counting. Outside Tallinn there is empty ground where trails can, and should, be laid out. The more participants, the better and more reliable our knowledge of winter birds will be
.
