Our own "silver dollars"

Perennial honesty with pods.

Honesty (Lunaria annua), also called silver dollars or the money plant, of southern European origin and beloved in flower arrangements, has a relative that grows in Estonia too, the perennial honesty (Lunaria rediviva). It is as attractive, only the flat seed pods aren’t round as those of honesty, but pointed. Now its dark-coloured pods have become beautifully bleached. But they shouldn’t be picked in any great numbers in the forest because perennial honesty only grows in a few places: on the coast (mostly in East Estonia) and in a few places elsewhere in Estonia. But a few pods can be brought home from the forest for seeds for your garden bed.
