The black stork chicks were on their own for another night irrespective of the six-degree night temperatures—half that of the previous nights. But the chicks have already proven they can manage. Daytime temperatures did not exceed 12 degrees.
Yesterday Padis went missing again. Donna fed the chicks breakfast a bit after seven and the next feedings were just before one and around four o'clock, respectively. Similar long times away from the nest were also seen last summer. The drought continues here, and the frogs have gone into hiding. Areas of shallow water have dried up. New food sources must be discovered.
