The day was 22 degrees warm but the night was quite cool, air temperature of three degrees. Weathermen are calling for changing weather in the next week. Despite the drought, Donna and Padis have kept the chicks well fed. But some of the shallow water bodies have gone dry and taken the frogs and fish along with them.
In the evening, husky breathing could be heard. It's possible that one of the chicks has a health problem—the smallest seems less well fed, or at least his craw did not seem as full as the others after feeding.
The chicks were restless at night and made voices of alarm, as if they'd seen an undesirable guest near the nest.
