"Survivors. Birds of snow and ice"

From February 25 until April 25 the Estonian Museum of Natural History presents “Survivors. Birds of snow and ice”, an exhibition by Finnish nature photographer Markus Varesvuo. The exhibition centres on the severe conditions of the Nordic winters for the birds living here. His book with the same title was selected as one of the most beautiful Finnish books in 2008.

Markus Varesvuo who has been photographing birds since 1998 is an acknowledged bird photographer in Finland and abroad. Thousands of his photos have been published in nature journals and books all over the world, and he has received several international awards. Outside nature publications his photos also appear in marketing and in the design of various products. His work is also used in bird protection work in several countries in Europe.

The exhibition is arranged by Lintukuva OY and the Tartu branch of the Finnish Institute (Soome Instituut). On Internet Markus Varesvuo’s work is shown on his web site, www.lintukuva.fi.

The Estonian Museum of Natural History, Tallinna, Lai 28 is open from Wednesdays to Sundays,  10:00 am  - 5:00 pm .
