Rain finally stopped in the forest late Saturday and night temperatures were 12 degrees. The day was beautiful with temperatures over 20 degrees, a drying wind, and warming sun. But in the morning the chicks didn't look so good: their down was gray due to the soaking wet. Around seven a.m. the feathers dried and the chicks got back their white suits, through which shows a new black coat.
The rain wasn't easy on the parents, obviously. They next brought food to the nest 18 hours after the evening's feeding.
It's possible that we'll be able to band the chicks on Monday.
