Birch sap flowing.
The birch sap flows in all Estonia now.
Early spring begins with the rise of the sap in birches and melting of the snow; very soon hazels and grey alder start flowering. Developments in this period varies, the weather can change within moments. Frost and snowfall aren’t unusual, they slow down the happenings in nature, and may lengthen the development by weeks.
Fenological spring in nature begins with the flowering of maples, but to that it is at least a month more, in southern Estonia maybe a little bit less.
