One morning the good life of the flycatchers came to an end. A new neighbour arrived, a male redstart with a proud red breast.
The redstart seemed to have a firm plan to lift out the flycatchers from their home. Each time when the pair approached the nest box, the redstart atacked at once. He seemed to be particularly sensitive about singing. Even quiet and short snatches of music brought on an angry attack.
For now the male flycatcher has given up going near the nest box. Only his lady can be seen quietly creeping around there.
The quarrelsome redstart keeps a close eye on the doings of the flycatcher pair although he hasn’t a mate himself.
