Seashore fishermen and anglers find well fed fish quite easily now. The dinner table of the flounder depends most strongly on the fauna of the sea bottom in the area: amphipods, molluscs, mussels, crustaceans like the aquatic sow bug Saduria entomon, and small fish.
The colour of flounders varies too depending on the sea bottom type. Fish living on sand are paler, those living among dark stones and bladder kelp are quite dark. The underside is white, often with dark pigment spots.
