Ash and sky
The ash is actually recognisable all year round. The brown seeds ripened in autumn, but stay on the trees until early spring. The buds are jet black and the tip bud large. The bark of young trees is greenish grey and smooth, with age it changes to a grey crusty cover; the crown has stout branches. There are fewer ash forests in Estonia than there are oak forests.
