Tiit Randla started putting out food on the feeding ground a little more than a week ago. The prudent birds observed what went on from a distance. Visitors in the first few days were a fox, and a raccoon dog that had woken up from its winter sleep to wander about. After that ravens and magpies felt it safe to visit the feeding place. Crows appeared a few days later. Three individual white-tailed eagles circle around the place. A young bird is seen on the ground in the screen capture and a somewhat older one in the air. The birds have certainly accepted the grounds. Yesterday evening a buzzard pair showed up. Today, just before 4 o’clock, there were already four white-tailed eagles. It seems that the eagles aren’t particularly hungry and so don’t bother to squabble about territorial rights with “smaller fry“ at midday; between themselves the hierarchy ladder doesn’t seem to be quite settled either.
