Boars' nest
Wild boar | Metssiga |
As dusk falls, or sometimes a little later, the web camera shows the wild boars at the feeding ground. But in winter boars are active in daytime too. The ground isn’t frozen under its thick snow cover, so it is possible to dig for plants roots for instance at river banks or in spots with somewhat less snow.
For daytime resting the boars usually take cover near the feeding ground, in a denser thicket, a young spruce stand or dense reed banks. The shelter of large spruces is suitable too for a „boars' nest”, where it is pleasant to rest side by side on uprooted soil, a little drier and protected from snow – in such a place Sven has caught the boars in the photo above.
