Of the great black-backed gulls in their black coats certainly more than a thousand individuals have stayed for winter in Estonia. Here is a brief introduction to the biggest gull species in the world: the large wings of the great black-backed gull are bordered with a prominent white band and have a span of more than one and a half metres. The head is white, the beak yellow and the feet a light sand colour. It is always associated with the sea, and a fish-eater. Proud, contrasting and majestic in the winter seascape.
Yesterday there were crowds of grey seals in camera view, but the storm and rising water swept the shore clean.
Whatever the weather, the great black-backed gulls always keep to the sea.
