Lonely young white-tailed eagle

Only one young white-tailed eagle moves around in the feeding ground surroundings. The seas of north-western Estonia are ice-free and eagles patrol the shores, on the lookout for prey. Those from Finland glance towards home. Some of the adult birds who breed in Estonia are sure to have visited their nesting places.

Eagle spring is approaching, little by little. Not yet here are the birds that have wintered southwards: we may yet see interesting things.

The foxes are many, and many are infected with mange (sarcoptic scabies). An animal in this stage of the illness probably won’t see the summer.
