The most common breeding bird in Estonia in summer. Likes to keep company with other passerines outside the nesting season. Keeps to trees, moves on the ground walking or by quick light jumps. The winterers are not many but they are noticeable. The male is slightly larger and more colourful (see Arne’s photo and try to describe it), the female is more discreetly greenish-brown. Both sexes have two broad white bands on the wings.
We may begin to expect the returning migrants at the end of the month.
