Buzzards seen ever more often

Driving around in these early spring days one can see raptors sitting quite conspicuously along the roads. Last week migrating buzzards started to arrive. The somewhat smaller male birds arrive first to secure a nesting territory for the pair. They sit in very visible spots – high trees, on silage mounds at roadsides. In the air they noisily mark that the area is occupied and drive off competitors. A few days later already a pair may be circling around and marking their territory.

Now there are spring heralds  to introduce every day. Today Kaja Kübar already saw the icebreaker – the wagtail - in Nigula.
