The raccoon dog is the only Canidae family member that hibernates. Some have been wandering around the whole winter looking for food, and for others the bedding got wet in the recent thaw period, but some have still not crawled up from under the protecting snow cover ... The more alert ones have been seen in the web cameras all winter long.
While the trail from a fox runs as if threaded on a string, the raccoon dog moves by shorter steps, more clumsily and zig-zagging. The imprint is slightly smaller than that of a fox.
