Drivers, please be very careful, the arriving migrants and passing birds are everywhere at the roadsides, sometimes in flocks of a thousand birds. As the snow cover decreases they move over to fields and meadows, but until then please reduce your speed.
 
The mass arrival of black-headed gulls started on Sunday.
 
Black-headed gulls are quite common in Estonia: roughly rook-sized with white plumage; wings and back are pale grey. The leading edge of the wing is white, the back edge black – characteristics that make it possible to identify a black-headed gull even when it is a young bird. The head of black-headed gulls is coffee brown in spring and summer, the bill and legs red.

Extremely social birds who are only very rarely encountered on their own. For unknown reasons the number of male birds is noticeably much greater than that of females, thus there are many non-nesting “bachelors“
