Starlings.
Starlings sing most actively during their nest building period in April. Already around mid-May the song ceases.
A black plumage with a metallic shimmer, but that only during the nesting season, with yellowish beak and pink legs: a beautiful spring herald. The differences between male and female birds are in nuances in the colours of eyes and beak. The iris of the male is uniformly brown, the iris of the female is bordered by a pale circle. The lower half of the male’s beak is bluish or blackish, occasionally off-white. That of the female is pink or pinkish white.
One more reason to observe starlings a little more closely.
