The video shows how the adult coolly lets the chick beg for food; somehow the kids must be gotten out of the nest so that they will learn the necessary lessons for a stork life at least partly before the long migration journey. As we know, black storks do not migrate in flocks. The female will leave first from our family; the male will stay on for some time, taking care of the young.
Usually fledging starts in the 9th or 10th week. The storklet remaining in the nest is nine weeks old. From camera observations in previous years we can state that so it works, since the number of chicks in the nest is smaller than in previous years and there has been no signs of lack of food.

Finally the male (we recognize him by the dark beak top side) took pity on the youth and the menu was abundant but out of habit the food still had to be fought for. It is not likely that the storklet will fledge yet today (Wednesday)…
